Join us as we celebrate International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend with visiting vessels and creative activities for the whole family.
11am – 3pm - Kids on Deck
Play, create and discover with art making, games and dress ups.
Craft your own lighthouse model, make harbour prints, a tugboat sculpture or a souvenir badge. Experiment with reflectors and circuits to make a working light-keepers lantern or learn morse code ciphers.
11am – 3.30 pm- Face painting
Have your face painted with nautical inspired designs
11am – 3pm - Visiting working harbour vessels from Sydney Heritage Fleet (details to come)
1.30pm and 3.30pm - Plankton Diaries with Visiting Vessel Tara – marine science demonstrations
Join artists and scientists on board visiting French scientific vessel Tara to investigate techniques for documenting the most microscopic marine life.
1pm, 2pm, 3pm – Adventures by Sea - musical storytelling performances
Join acclaimed spoken word artist Miles Merrill and composer/musician Trevor Brown as they tell tall tales of dancing lighthouses, wild storms and beat-boxing whales inspired by the museums collection.
11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm - Harbour Hoots Family Tours with Captain Shawn Scuttlebutt
Join character guide Captain Shawn Scuttlebutt for a fun filled family friendly tour and games around the museum’s harbour to discover the story behind our visiting vessels and our three lights- Cape Bowling Green, Carpentaria and the Tasman Light.
10.30am –11.30am and 3pm – 4pm - Have your photo with Blinky-the Lighthouse on legs
See if you can find our friendly red and white striped lighthouse roaming the shores of the museum for a picture perfect moment!
1am – 4pm - Climb up the Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse, See the Carpentaria from the wharf
Free with any ticket or gold coin donation to climb the lighthouse
