    Mini tours

    Birds-eye view of the Eora First People exhibition space at the museum

    Don’t have time for the 45 minutes tour? Take a 20 minute mini tour with one of our volunteers delving into the following themes;
    Songlines: ancient journeys with an unexpected ending

    Steamers: new arrivals on our shores

    Meet the Fleet

    Various vessels and a lighthouse on the waterfront of the Australian National Maritime Museum

    The museum’s wooden boat collection is a hidden gem. Join one of our knowledgeable volunteers on a tour which could include Akarana, Carpentaria, MB 172 Epic Lass, John Louis, Kathleen Gillett, Krait, Thistle, and Tu Do. As these vessels are in our care we can’t let visitors on board so the tours are conducted from the pontoons.

    HMAS Vampire

    The museum's navy destroyer HMAS Vampire at the museum wharf

    Many of the volunteers who run this tour are ex-Navy and can share their own experiences of life aboard an RAN vessel. It is a unique opportunity to explore a destroyer and find out about life and work of the sailors in this 45 minute tour.

    Blackmore’s First Lady

    View of the Blackmore's First Lady gallery space

    An exceptional opportunity to climb aboard the actual vessel used by Kay Cottee to circumnavigate the world. Explore this remarkable ship with one of our volunteers on this small group 15 minute tour.
