Fun and Learning for Under 5s
The Maritime Museum welcomes 2-5-year-olds and their parents/carers!
Every month, Mini Mariners welcomes 2-5-year-olds and their parents/carers. Expect lots of fun with games, crafts, story time, tours and more. Our interactive gallery tours are led by a costumed guide and there is art-making and free play in our themed activity space.
Pack your bags for an imaginative journey across the seas in a special character tour for under 5s and their carers. Learn about the journey of the Bar-tailed Godwit bird featured in Circle, our new exhibition by acclaimed artist and author Jeannie Baker, as we explore different cultures and places from across the seas that the Godwit visits on their journey. Sing songs, dance and enjoy story time. Then you can create your own collaged birds or print a calico book bag to take home.
Tuesdays 7, 14, 21, 28 and Saturday 11 June 2016
Explore Ships, Clocks & Stars through creative play — music making, movement, nursery rhymes, simple measurement games and shape matching. Make your own colour-matching clock, captain’s hat or star garland to take home.
Tuesdays 19, 26 and Saturday 23 July
Let's follow the treasure map around the museum to find the secret treasure cave. Learn how to sing, dance and scrub the deck like a pirate. Then you can decorate your own pirate hat or parrot puppet to take home and enjoy some special pirate science experiments.
Tuesdays 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Saturday 13 August
Please meet at the foyer 5–10 minutes before the program and collect your sticker from the front desk. If you arrive early or want to stay longer, you can explore our galleries (included in your ticket) and our Mini Mariners Play space or grab a coffee from the Kiosk or Yots cafe.

Explore the world of submarine adventurers and creatures that live under the sea! Dance through the galleries, sing songs, and enjoy storytime. Experiment with special science activities, make your own explorer goggles or painted submarine to take home.
