Fun and Learning for Under 5s

The Maritime Museum welcomes 2-5-year-olds and their parents/carers!

  • About

    Every month, Mini Mariners welcomes 2-5 year-olds and their parents/carers. Expect lots of fun with games, crafts, storytime, tours and more. Our interactive gallery tours are led by a costumed guide and there is art-making and free play in our themed activity space.

    March - Steer, Sail and Soar!

    Toot toot, chug, chug and row, row around the museum as we explore different types of transport and how they move in special character tours for under 5s and their carers. Enjoy stories, sing songs and move and dance through the galleries in this fun filled learning program. Craft your own souvenir boat, hot air balloon or sailor hat to take home.

    April - Under the Sea

    Wobble like a jellyfish, glide like a tortoise and snap like a shark as we make our way through the museum to discover the magnificent world of creatures that live under the sea.
    Enjoy a touch tour of sea-specimens and objects, listen to stories, and create your own watercolour painting or sea creature headdress.

    Date: Tuesdays 4 & 25, Saturday 8 April

    Under Sea Garden - Worlds Biggest Playgroups Day

    Come and visit us in the Mini Mariners Under Sea Garden pop up stall at Worlds Biggest Playgroups Day -The ultimate free day out for families with young children at Tumbalong Park! 
    This special day will feature exciting activities and events for the whole family including Performances by Hi-5, ABC TV's Play School and Nay Nay, Sam Moran and a dance party presented by Kinderling Radio's DJ.

    May - Pirates Ahoy

    General Information

    Please meet at the foyer 5–10 minutes before the program and collect your sticker from the front desk. If you arrive early or want to stay longer, you can explore our galleries and our Mini Mariners Play space or grab a coffee from the Kiosk or Yots cafe.

    Prices: $8.50 per child, first adult $3.50, additional adults $7. FREE for Members.
