General Guided Tour (Years 2 - 6)
Our Teacher Guides will take students through the mythical worlds of Air, Water, Land and Dragons, providing opportunities to explore each realm with leading focus questions.

We Dig Mythic Creatures (Years 5 - 6)
This tour explores the importance of scientific and historical study in understanding the origins of mythic creatures. Students will investigate archaelogical evidence for mythic creatures in the Land realm, then tour the rest of the exhibition.

WORKSHOP & GUIDED TOUR (2 hours) $10.00 per student

Mystical Maritime Myths (Years 5 - 6)
Students will use the exhibition and a number of scenario cards as inspiration to explore components of creative writing such as setting the scene, descriptive writing techniques, characterisation, genre and the notion of mythology.

Mythic Mask Making (Years 3 - 6)
Students decorate a mask to personify a creature that represents a force in nature, then create and perform a ceremony that reflects the cultural importance of their creature.

Create a Creature (Years 2 - 6)
Students create and decorate their own mythic creature using a variety of art media.  The focus of their creation will be linking their creature to a specific habitat and therefore being able to articulate the reasons behind their creation.

Blended and Borrowed workshop (Years 5 - 6)
Students explore beliefs of different societies and how they have blended and borrowed mythical stories throughout history.  Students then form their own 'communities' and work together to produce a hybrid mythical creature.

Mythic Creatures of the Unknown (Years 3 - 6)
Students go on a story-telling journey with a wise old sage and encourage him to overcome his fear of what lurks in the deep, dark cave. Students will hear tales that have been inspired by fear of the unknown natural world.

Sailors and Superstitions Game (Years 3 - 6)
Students become the playing pieces in our life-size maritime superstition board game. While role playing various mythic creatures from the deep, students will learn about many superstitions that shaped sailors' beliefs through their fear the 'unknown' ocean.

All our programs are run by qualified teachers and include a guided tour of the exhibition.
