Freedom of information

The Australian National Maritime Museum is a Commonwealth statutory authority and makes information about its activities available to the public in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act), members of the public can seek access to museum documents. To make a request under the FOI Act, please write to the address below.

In your application, please include the following:

  • a statement that the request is made pursuant to the FOI Act
  • a list of the documents you are seeking
  • a $30.00 application fee (cheque or money order made payable to the Australian National Maritime Museum).

The FOI Act provides that further charges may be imposed for processing requests and also provides a number of exemptions from release.
