The museum is an ideal location for shooting documentaries and dramas, stills and film. It It offers a modern harbourside setting and a variety of historic vessels on the water. With stunning contemporary spaces, it can accommodate a wide range of productions. And the area is well served with public transport and parking facilities.
Whether you're shooting a TV drama, advertisement, fashion shoot or feature film, we have the scope and facilities to meet your production needs.

Using our vessels
Three of our vessels are available for hire as still or film props. All vessels are moored outside the museum building and are in operational condition. They suit many applications, including fashion photography, advertising and filming of historical Australian events. These vessels are:
- ex-naval destroyer HMAS Vampire (grey)
- ex-naval submarine HMAS Onslow (black)
- the HMB Endeavour replica, one of the world's most accurate maritime reproductions. On board the beautifully crafted ship, you glimpse a sailor's life during Captain Cook's epic 1768-71 world voyage.
Access to the museum site and collection is subject to approval. A site access fee will vary according to the project and the scope of services provided by the museum. Contact the venues department for more information:
