Tuesdays 1, 8, 29 April & Saturday 12 April | 10 am & 11 am (45 mins sessions)

Mini Mariners welcomes 2-5-year-olds and their parents/carers. Expect lots of fun with games, craft and story time. Our interactive gallery tour is led by a costumed guide and there is free play in our themed space.

Flip, leap, dive and sing as we discover very big ocean mammals and teeny tiny underwater creatures too in a tour through our Whale exhibitions. Enjoy whale stories and songs, Play with games and dress ups and make your own cetacean (whale or dolphin) sculpture or whale printed bags to take home.

Cost: $8.50 per child, first adult $3.50, additional adults $7 (includes galleries ticket). Free for Members, Big Ticket and Kids Adventure ticket holders

The museum has delved deep into its collection and bought to the surface a range of fun, quirky and utilitarian whale-related artefacts. On display are fascinating curiosities such as a glove stretcher, a pie crimper and dolls made from whalebone. Tools, games and everyday items such as a toothbrush show the widespread use of whale products in the past.

Explore the amazing world of cetaceans- whales, porpoises and dolphins in Kids On Deck.

Create your own cetacean puppet or mobile, craft a whale soft sculpture or your own whale song instrument. Investigate cetaceans in scientific games and dress up in sea creature costumes.

Learn to remix, reverb and record your own whale -songs in a fun filled workshop on digital music making inspired by our Amazing Whales exhibition. Learn professional music editing and compositing techniques.

Tuesdays in May is Drip Drop Splash! Dive into the wonderful world of water! Take a tour through the museum galleries to discover stories about water and how we use it every day. Sing songs, play games and make your own bubble painting, or water drop prints to take home.
