Visit the oldest European settlement in Victoria

Sail close to shore and see Australia as it might have been in the 18th century, passing close to Kangaroo Island. An opportunity may exist, dependent on timing and weather, to anchor briefly.

Portland is located on the far south-west coast of Victoria and is the oldest European settlement in the state.

Cable Tram offers visitors a scenic and informative journey through the foreshore, providing views along the coast and passing fascinating local attractions. Explore the Botanic Gardens, Portland Powerhouse Car Museum, Maritime Discovery Centre (which houses a 14-metre sperm whale skeleton), Whalers Bluff Lighthouse and the World War II Memorial Lookout Tower at Anderson Point. Coonawarra wine region is close by to the west, and the stunning Grampians National Park to the north are within a two-hour drive from Portland.

HMB Endeavour is a fully functioning, seagoing ship. Sailing as a voyage crew member or a supernumerary is an exciting and enriching experience. Come on board and challenge yourself to do something extraordinary.

Voyage Crew (for action and adventure): $1,540 one way

As a voyage crew member you will sleep in hammocks and stand watch, set and take in sail, helm the ship and help keep it clean. Voyage crew must be able to climb aloft (39 metres in a harness).

Supernumerary (for leisurely voyaging): $2,600 one way

Supernumerary berths are ideal for those who prefer not to do the sailing activities or who do not meet all the physical requirements for going aloft. You will occupy single cabins and relax in the Great Cabin, just as Cook himself would have done.
